Psalm 24 The King of Glory and His Kingdom

Psalm 24 The King of Glory and His Kingdom

The earth is the LORD’s, and

  all its fullness,

The world and those who

  dwell therein.

For He has founded it upon

  the seas,

And established it upon the

   waters.

Who may ascend into the hill

  of the LORD?

Or who may stand in His holy

  place?

He who has clean hands and

  a pure heart,

Who has not lifted up his soul

  to an idol,

Nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive blessing from

  the LORD,

And righteousness from the

 God of his salvation.

This is Jacob, the generation

  of those who seek Him,

Who seek Your face.                Selah

Lift up your heads, O you

  gate!

And be lifted up, you

  everlasting doors!

And the King of glory shall

  come in.

Who is this King of glory?

The LORD strong and mighty,

The LORD mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O you

  gates!

Lift up, you everlasting doors!

And the king of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory?

The LORD of hosts,

He is the King of glory.             Selah

Everything in the world is God’s, from the smallest microbe to the largest whale. Every plant, every atom, every soul and breathing creature belongs to Him. Our bodies, and the bodies of those around us. Fellow humans, animals, and even the insects are His. The structures that we see in nature, the laws of physics and the integrated complexity of all life forms, were formed by Him.

How do we treat these things that are not ours? Do we care for our own bodies so we may be healthy? Are we careful to not hurt others physically and mentally? For those of us with pets and plants, are we acting as good stewards of God’s creation? This can be easier said than done for some people, myself included.

We should rejoice that the King of Glory is coming, and He will proclaim His Lordship over all. Let us be waiting for Him with praise and jubilation as He is OUR King, and glorify Him in all His power.
