Psalm 23 The LORD the Shepherd of His People

Psalm 23 The LORD the Shepherd of His People

The LORD is my shepherd;

  Ii shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in

  green pastures;

He leads me beside the still

  waters.

He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of

  righteousness

For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through

  the valley of the shadow

  of death,

I will fear no evil;

For You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they

  comfort me.

You prepared a table before

  me in the presence of my

  enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

Surely my cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy

  shall follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house

  of the LORD

Forever.

The quiet peace of God’s presence gives us solace even when threats loom around us. When it seems as if the enemy should surely be able to swoop down and snatch us, we needn’t fear. When we trust Him completely, we feel a beautiful sense of wellbeing and security. Satisfaction and joy flood our hearts, calmness, and fulfillment overpower all anxiety. This is the promise, however, we must obey God in every aspect of our lives in order to experience these promises.
